Understanding and Using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on FMG

What is Multi-Factor Authentication, Why is it important, and How does it work on FMG?

Introduction

We prioritize the security of our customers' data. To enhance our security measures, the FMG platform uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). While we understand this adds an extra step to the login process, it significantly strengthens the protection of your account.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication?

MFA is a security process that requires users to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as an application or an online account. Instead of simply asking for a password, MFA requires additional information to verify your identity.

Benefits of MFA

  1. Enhanced Security. MFA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access. Even if your password is compromised, the additional verification step ensures that only you can access your account.
  2. Protection Against Phishing and Credential Theft. MFA helps protect against common attacks by requiring a second form of authentication. Your FMG account contains important information for your business, and we want to honor that.
  3. Compliance with Security Standards. Implementing MFA helps meet industry regulations and standards, ensuring your data is handled with the highest security practices.

How Does MFA Work at FMG?

  1. Login with Your Credentials. Enter your username and password as usual.
  2. Receive a One-Time Passcode. A one-time passcode (OTP) will be sent to your registered email address. It looks like this:

  3. Enter the One-Time Passcode. Check your email for the OTP and enter it on the login page to complete the authentication process.

We Get It, This Extra Step Can Be a Little Inconvenient

While MFA introduces an extra step, the enhanced security it provides is worth it. We appreciate your time as we strive to protect your data with the security standards you deserve.

FAQs

I haven't received the one-time passcode email. What steps should I take?

If you're having trouble receiving the email with a one-time passcode, try some of the troubleshooting steps in this help article.

Is email the only method of receiving a one-time passcode?

For the initial rollout, email is the only method of receiving a one-time passcode. We are considering other authentication options for the future.

Will each user receive the one-time passcode email?

Yes, each individual FMG user will receive the one-time passcode email to their associated email address.

How long does the one-time passcode last before it expires?

The passcode is valid for 30 minutes. If it expires, you can request a new one by logging in again.

What happens if I enter the one-time passcode incorrectly during the login process?

If you happen to enter the one-time passcode incorrectly, simply restart the login process by entering your username and password again. A new one-time passcode will then be sent to you.

How often will I be prompted for multi-factor authentication?

You will be required to enter a passcode every time you log in. We may adjust these settings in the future based on user feedback and requirements.

Can I use an authenticator app like Microsoft or Google Authenticator?

Not at this time. We are exploring this option for future updates.

Will MFA work on white-label dashboards and CMS login URLs, such as secure.agencyrevolution.com?

Yes, multi-factor authentication will work on all of our white-label login links. However, please keep in mind that the email will always be FMG branded.
