Google Search Console | "Couldn't Fetch" Error
If you see a "Couldn't Fetch" error in the Status field of your sitemap, even after your site has been crawled, don't worry! This issue may arise if you entered your sitemap URL incorrectly.To troubleshoot:
- Check that the URL path in the sitemap field reads "/sitemap.xml" and not a page URL like "/homepage." If it's incorrect, simply resubmit it using the correct URL. (example: www.example.com/sitemap.xml) Learn more about submitting your sitemap to Google here.
- It's common for this error to affect sites hosted by any company. Usually, it resolves itself within a few days or weeks. However, if you want to speed up the process, you can submit the URL using the URL Inspection Tool.
