Why Is MyRepChat Showing the Wrong Contact Names? (Android)
Fix unfamiliar contact names caused by multiple synced Gmail accounts
If you're seeing unfamiliar or unexpected contact names in the MyRepChat mobile app on Android, you likely have more than one Gmail account synced to your device.
What's Happening?
When multiple Gmail accounts are connected to your Android device, MyRepChat may pull contact info from a non-primary account instead of your main one. For example, if a family member's Gmail is also synced to your phone, MyRepChat might show contact names as they're saved in that account — which may not match how you have them saved yourself.
How Do I Fix It?
Fixing this involves two steps: stopping future syncing, then clearing contacts already synced from the other account.
Part 1: Stop Future Syncing
- Open your Android Settings app.
- Tap Accounts & Backup or Users & Accounts (label varies by device).
- Tap Manage Accounts.
- Tap the Gmail account you want to stop syncing.
- Tap Account Sync.
- Toggle off Contacts.
Part 2: Remove Already-Synced Contacts
- Go to Settings > Apps.
- Find and tap Contacts. (If it's not visible, tap the menu and select Show System.)
- Tap Storage or Storage & Cache (label varies by device).
- Tap Clear Storage or Clear Data.
Clearing storage only removes synced contacts from your phone — it does not delete any contacts from the Google account itself.
Once both steps are complete, MyRepChat will display contact names from your primary account as expected.
