What is the inbound voice calling experience when I pick a new number from MyRepChat? (Web UI)
Understand what happens when someone calls your new MyRepChat number
Through MyRepChat, you can receive inbound calls and make outbound calls to your contacts. Most MyRepChat accounts use a new number, while some use Hosted SMS instead.
If you've text-enabled an office landline or VoIP line, that's Hosted SMS, and the calling experience is different when it comes to Caller ID and voicemail. See How do I text-enable my landline? (Hosted SMS) and What if I change my phone carrier/voice provider? (Hosted SMS) for more information.
This article covers the inbound call experience for users with a new number from MyRepChat.
The Voice Add-On can be enabled to manage your Caller ID and voicemail experience. Without it, Caller ID and voicemail are handled by your cell phone rather than MyRepChat.
What Happens When a Contact Calls My New MyRepChat Number?
- The call is forwarded to your mobile phone — you'll answer it on your mobile device.
- Your mobile phone's caller ID shows the caller's phone number. If that number is already saved as a contact on your phone, it will likely display their name.
- If you have a CRM integration, MyRepChat will also check the CRM for a matching contact.
- The Messages pane in MyRepChat shows a phone icon to indicate an incoming call.
- If you have a CRM integration and the incoming number is recognized, a note for "incoming call" will appear in that contact's CRM notes.
- When you answer, you're immediately connected to the caller.
Voicemail through MyRepChat requires the Voice Add-On. If it's disabled, callers are sent to the voicemail on your cell phone instead.
