What happens if I send a message to a DL and consent is required?
Understand how consent affects messages sent to a distribution list
If consent is required and you send a message to a distribution list where not everyone has consented, here's what happens:
- Contacts who have consented will receive your message as normal.
- Contacts who haven't consented yet won't receive anything until they do.
How Do I Send a Consent Request to a Distribution List?
Click Send Consent next to the smiley emoji icon. This sends the consent request to everyone on the list who hasn't yet consented.
Only click Send Consent once, then wait. Clicking it multiple times can send the same consent request repeatedly to the same contacts. For larger distribution lists, sending can take some time and may lag the platform — clicking again while it's still processing is a common way this happens by accident.
If your group uses positive consent (a reply of "ACCEPT"), we recommend waiting several hours to a full day after sending before following up, to give contacts enough time to respond.
