What are the message send/receive stages? (Desktop and Mobile)
When you send or receive a text message in MyRepChat, it moves through several stages. These statuses come directly from our texting provider and reflect the status of a message in the send or delivery process.
Outbound message stages
- Queued: The message has been sent by MyRepChat and received by our texting provider. It is queued to be sent to the contact's phone carrier. This is a temporary state that should update once the message is sent to the carrier.
- Sent: The message has been sent to the carrier. Note that this status is not always auto-synced — you may see a message remain in a Queued state and then update to Sent or Delivered after a refresh.
- Delivered: The message was accepted by the carrier, and the carrier notified us of that acceptance. This does not happen with every carrier, so not all successfully delivered messages will show this status.
Error stages
- Failed or Misconfiguration Error: Our provider was unable to send the message. This may be due to unsupported content or another issue on our SMS service provider's end.
- Undelivered: Our provider sent the message, but the carrier rejected it. This is typically due to carrier-specific constraints such as filtering rules.
Inbound message stage
- Received: The message has been received and processed by MyRepChat. This is not a read receipt; it simply confirms that the message was received on our end. By the time you see a message in the app, it will already be in this state.
A note on Positive Consent
If your firm requires Positive Consent and a contact has not yet fulfilled those requirements, messages sent to that contact will not be delivered. Make sure consent is in place before messaging any contact subject to these requirements.
