Turn on and troubleshoot notifications on Android and iOS

How Do I Enable Notifications on Android?

Most Android phones won't let you change notification settings until you've received at least one message. If you haven't received a message on your MyRepChat number yet, send yourself a test message to unlock these settings.

  1. Open the Settings app on your Android device.
  2. Go to Apps (or Apps & Notifications).
  3. Search for and select MyRepChat.
  4. Tap Notifications (this may appear under a Privacy or similar section, depending on your device).
  5. Toggle on Allow Notifications.

Once enabled, you can further customize:

  • Whether notifications appear on the lock screen.
  • Whether app icon badges are turned on or off.
  • Whether you see notification pop-ups or banners.
  • Whether sound and vibration are turned on or off.

Note: Notification settings vary across Android devices, so these steps may not match exactly on every phone. If they don't apply to your device, check your phone's own notification settings directly.

How Do I Enable Notifications on iOS?

  1. Open your iPhone's Settings app.
  2. Scroll down to the list of apps and select MyRepChat.
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. Adjust your settings as desired — changes save automatically.

You can customize how MyRepChat alerts you:

  • Lock Screen: Show notifications when your screen is locked.
  • Notification Center: Include MyRepChat in your notification history.
  • Banners: Show pop-up alerts when the app is in the background.
  • Sounds: Play a sound for incoming notifications.
  • Badges: Show an unread count on the app icon.

To test that notifications are working: log out of the MyRepChat app, log back in, and send yourself a test text message or run a mobile push test. To run a push test, log into the desktop app, go to Support > Notifications > Mobile Notification, confirm Set to iPhone shows green, then click Mobile Push Test. This generates a test notification only — it doesn't send an actual text message.

What Do I Do If I'm Not Receiving Notifications?

If you're not getting notifications for new messages or calls, try these steps:

  1. Make sure notifications are enabled for MyRepChat in your phone's settings (see above for Android or iOS steps).
  2. Check that your phone's OS is up to date.
  3. Restart your phone — turn it off for a few minutes, then back on.
  4. Delete the app and reinstall the latest version.
  5. Refresh the app by closing and reopening it, or logging out and back in.

Note: The notification count may not update if messages or calls are accessed from a different account, or if a message is moved from read back to unread.
