Instructions to "release the SPID or NNID" if you use a VOIP provider

Ask your carrier to release your line's texting capability so MyRepChat can use it

The SPID is the texting (SMS/MMS) portion of your phone line — the same line also carries voice service separately. To use MyRepChat, you'll need to ask your carrier to "release the SPID" so MyRepChat can take over the texting portion.

Your voice service stays intact and is not affected by this process.

How Do I Release the SPID?

  1. Call your carrier and tell them you want to transfer your texting/SMS traffic to MyRepChat's carrier.
  2. File a request to delete the existing SMS Routing Profile (also called the "SPID" or "NNID") on the number.
  3. Once the SPID is released, email support@myrepchat.com with the approximate date it was released. Our Client Experience team will follow up to complete a verification call.
  4. Log back into your MyRepChat account, choose to text-enable an existing landline, and follow the on-screen instructions, including completing the LOA.
  5. After we receive your LOA, it can take up to 10 days for the text routing change to take effect and complete your account setup.

Note:

  • Each carrier has a different process for releasing the SPID — some release the "NNID" instead.
  • Your carrier may provide a confirmation number, or an LOA document to give to our carrier to facilitate the change.
  • It generally takes 5–10 days after the SPID is released for the number's routing to become accessible.

If your carrier isn't familiar with this process or doesn't recognize the terms "SPID" or "NNID," contact MyRepChat Client Experience at 844-402-2428 or support@myrepchat.com for help.
