Understanding Meta's Link Limits for Facebook Pages

Understanding Meta's link limits and how posts shared through FMG are not impacted

Meta recently started limiting how many posts with links a Facebook Page can publish each month. In this article, we'll explain what Meta One's link are and how the content you share through FMG is not impacted.

Key Takeaway - Meta now limits Facebook Pages to 2 posts or comments containing links per month, with higher limits on paid Meta One plans. The posts you share to Facebook through FMG aren't affected and you don’t need a Meta One plan to keep sharing content with links to Facebook through FMG.

What are Meta's Link Limits?

Meta now limits how many organic posts or comments with links a Facebook Page can publish each month:

  • Free Facebook Pages: up to 2 posts or comments with links per month. The limit resets on the 1st of each month.
  • Meta One plans: a higher monthly limit. It resets on the date your subscription renews.

Unused link posts don't carry over to the next month. To learn more, please refer to Meta's help article: Link limits for Facebook Pages.

Does this affect posts I share through FMG?

Posts you share to Facebook through FMG are not affected.

When this change came to our attention, we researched and tested it. We hit Meta's limit when posting directly on a Facebook Page, but posts with links shared through FMG kept publishing as expected. That includes scheduled and automated posts.

Based on what we know today, Meta's limit only applies to posts published with Facebook's own tools, like the Facebook app, Facebook on the web, and Meta Business Suite.

Do I need a Meta One plan?

You don't need a Meta One plan to keep sharing content to Facebook through FMG.

Meta's limit applies to link posts you publish directly on your Facebook Page. If you also post links directly on Facebook, Meta One raises that limit, so it's up to you whether it fits how you use your Page.

Frequently Asked Questions

I already signed up for Meta One. Do I still need it?

It depends on how you post. For content you share through FMG, Meta One isn't needed. If you post a lot of links directly on Facebook, Meta One gives you a higher limit there.

My Facebook post went out without its link, or didn't post at all. Is this why?

We aren't seeing Meta's limit affect posts shared through FMG. If a post didn't publish as expected, please contact our Client Experience team with the details, and we'll look into what happened.

Does this affect LinkedIn?

No. This is a Facebook-only change from Meta; LinkedIn is not part of it at this time.
