How to Add a Viewer to Google Analytics

Adding a Viewer to Your Google Analytics Account or Property

One key feature of Google Analytics is the ability to share access with team members, ensuring that everyone can benefit from the data insights. This guide will walk you through the process of adding a viewer to your Google Analytics account, enabling team members to have read-only access to your data.

⚠️ Only users with Editor or Administrator rights on a Google Analytics property can add a viewer (user with read-only access) to it.

Follow these steps to add a viewer to your Google Analytics account:

  1. Log in to the Google Analytics account where you want to add a viewer.
  2. Navigate to Admin Settings:
    AdminGA
    • Click on the Admin gear icon ⚙️ located in the lower-left corner.
  3. Select Access Management:

    • Under the appropriate Account Settings or Property Settings, select either "Account Access Management"  or "Property Access Management."
  4. Click the + (plus) button in the top right corner and select "Add users."
  5. Enter User Details
    • Input the email address of the person you want to add as a viewer.
  6. Assign Viewer Role
    • Check the box for "Viewer" permissions to assign the Viewer role. This will allow the user to view reports and configuration, but not make changes.
  7. Notify the User (Optional): Check the box to notify the user by email about their new access.
  8. Save Changes
    1. Click "Add" in the top right corner to save the changes.

Once these steps are completed, the new viewer will have access to view reports and data within the specified Google Analytics account or property.
