Mobile app notifications guide
Turn on and troubleshoot MyRepChat notifications on Android and iPhone.
Notifications let you know right away when you get a new message or call in the MyRepChat mobile app. Follow the steps for your phone below, then send a test notification to make sure everything works.
Turn on notifications on Android
Most Android phones won't let you change notification settings until you've received at least one message. If you haven't received a message on your MyRepChat number yet, send yourself a test text to unlock these settings.- Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
- Go to Apps (or Apps & Notifications).
- Search for and select MyRepChat.
- Tap Notifications. Depending on your phone, this may be under Privacy or a similar section.
- Turn on Allow Notifications.
Once notifications are on, you can choose:
- Whether notifications appear on the lock screen
- Whether app icon badges are on or off
- Whether you see pop-ups or banners
- Whether sound and vibration are on or off
Note: Notification settings vary across Android phones, so these steps may not match yours exactly. If they don't, check your phone's own notification settings.
Turn on notifications on iPhone (iOS)
- Open your iPhone's Settings app.
- Scroll down to the list of apps and select MyRepChat.
- Tap Notifications.
- Adjust your settings. Changes save automatically.
- Lock Screen: show notifications when your screen is locked.
- Notification Center: include MyRepChat in your notification history.
- Banners: show pop-up alerts when the app is in the background.
- Sounds: play a sound for incoming notifications.
- Badges: show an unread count on the app icon.
Test your notifications
Log out of the MyRepChat app, log back in, and send yourself a test text message. Not receiving notifications?
If you're not getting notifications for new messages or calls, try these steps:- Make sure notifications are on for MyRepChat in your phone's settings (see the steps above).
- Check that your phone's operating system is up to date.
- Restart your phone. Turn it off for a few minutes, then turn it back on.
- Close and reopen the app, or log out and back in.
- If that doesn't work, delete the app and reinstall the latest version.
Note: The notification count may not update if messages or calls are opened from a different account, or if a message is marked unread again after being read.
