How to use Group Texting

Send a message to multiple contacts who share mutual interests

Group texting is a powerful way to communicate with multiple contacts who share mutual financial interests, like families or business partners, making it easy to share important information quickly.

Group texting is available only on accounts that have it turned on. If you don't see the option, contact your group administrator, as they will need to update the terms of their contract to include group messaging.

Note: Group texting is different from messaging a distribution list. In a group message, everyone is part of one shared conversation, like a group chat. When you message a distribution list, each contact receives the message individually.

How Do I Start a Group Message?

  1. In the left menu, click Messages.

  2. Click the blue new message button to the right of Search conversations.

What Should I Know Before Sending a Group Message?

  • A group message can include up to 9 contacts.
  • Every contact in a group message must have consented to receive texts.
  • Contacts who have opted out appear grayed out and marked Opted out, and can't be selected.

Depending on your compliance department or home office requirements, you may need to obtain consent from recipients before sending a group text.

  • Positive Consent: Send your firm's consent message to all recipients and wait for them to reply "Accept" before proceeding.
  • Negative Consent: Send the consent message and proceed with the group text without waiting for a response.
